It had been several years since we were last in New York City, so we were glad to take advantage of a special "deal" from The Hilton and spent 3 nights in The Big Apple. The first group of photos includes our stretch limo from LaGuardia (the driver convinced us to take his car for the same price as a yellow cab...), our fabulous hotel room with flat screen TV and a view of The Hilton at night, corner of 54th Street and Avenue of the Americas.

On our first day we had lunch at Café des Artistes (see photo of Chris in front of the mural), took the ferry to Staten Island, went to a Staten Island Yankees game with Paul Hurst, who went with us to Chinatown for a delicious dinner at our very favorite Vietnamese restaurant. There are some photos of from the ferry ride, the ball park, the new ferry terminal at St. George and the full moon on the trip back.

Day two we had to endure the 3 hour sales presentation by the Hilton Club, trying to sell us a time share. However, we resisted all their efforts! Lunch at PJ Clarke's, then we wandered around the Village with Pete Santora, stopping at a few bars along the way. The photos include a tempting display at an Italian bakery, the bar at the Grammercy Park Hotel, Chris at PJ Clarke's, and dinner that night at our special restaurant, Benitos II, with the owner Salvatore who sat with us, ordered for us and gave us nice bottle of Italian lemon liqueur...

Day three we had brunch with Janet Asimov at the Asia Society. It was fabulous (see picture of the Bento Box special). Afterwards Janet took us to the Frick Museum which was a great idea. There is so much to see there besides just paintings - sculpture, rare books, furniture, Chinese vases, etc. A truly beautiful place. We did a little shopping (of course) and later met up with Pete (who was celebrating his 57th birthday) and Paul for dinner at Patsy's Italian restaurant. A very good choice!

On our last day we visited our friend Yardena at her flea market booth, did some more last minute shopping, and enjoyed the HUGE 9/11 parade going up 5th Avenue for hours. We couldn't have had a better time, but of course, we were also glad to go home. In the last photos from the airport, we are sporting our new Versace sun glasses...
